What is a narrative perspective
Every text has a narrator that guides the reader though the story. Telling the story and the point of veiw we are hearing.
Is the narrator a character of the story or the unknown?
What is First person perspective
Pronouns?
Uses pronouns I, we, our me and us. Speaks about themselves. Usually the main character
What is second person perspective?
Pronouns?
Uses pronouns you and your. The narrator speaks directly to the reader. Rarely used
What is third person perspective?
Pronouns?
Uses pronouns he, she, them, they, his, her, and it. Narrator watches story but not in it. Speaks about the character but not himself. Most stories use this point of view.
What are two types of third person perspective?
Omniscient + Limited
What is omniscient
No bias or preference + Full knowledge of all characters and situation in the story
What is limited
Only knows what is going on inside one characters head. Perspective is limited to that character. Narrator is not that character.
