What was the Napoleonic codes ?
The Napoleonic codes were created as part of Napoleon work to simplify Francis complex structure of laws
When was the laws introduced?
March 1804
What did the napoleonic codes confirm ?
- The abolition of feudalism and removal of noble and church privilege
- The secularisation of the state
- Equality before the law and freedom of conscience
- It also confirmed the legal rights of the purchases of the bien nationaux

Responsible for general surveillance, they gathered information on habitual troublemakers and ensure that any political troublemakers were rounded up
How did Napoleon keep surveillance
- The minister of police was expected to make daily reports directly to Napoleon
- By 1810 Napoleon expected his imperial machine not only to crush actual opposition but to seek our potential since opponents largest or small
- Surveillance was consistent: correspondence was intercepted, recipients of suspicious letters interrogated, potential troublemakers permanently exiled and dangerous literature destroyed 
Significant of Napoleonic codes
Napoleonic codes established a comprehensive revision of laws, while his reorganisation of local government provided him without agents to oversee the carrying out of those laws.
