Myofascial Release Flashcards
1
Q
Relative contraindications of MFR
A
infection fracture advanced cancer following trauma decompensated patient
2
Q
MFR
A
stretch and release muscle and fascia restrictions
can be direct or indirect, active or passive
3
Q
Steps to MFR
A
- palpate restriction
- direct (into restriction w/ traction) or indirect (away from restriction with compression)
- fine tune - twisting, transverse forces, passive movement of limb
- enhancers to induce release - respiration, eye movement, muscle contraction - direct or indirect
- wait for release
4
Q
Goal of MFR
A
restore functional balance to all integrative tissues in MSK system
Improve lymphatic flow by removing myofascial restrictions
Dose appropriately
5
Q
Physiologic diaphragms
A
Tenotrium cerebelli
Thoracic inlet
Abdominal diaphragm
Pelvic diaphragm
6
Q
Location of compensatory curves
A
occipitoatlantal junction
cervicothoracic junction
thoracolumbar junction
lumbosacral junction
7
Q
Most common compensatory pattern
A
Left, right, left, right of compensatory curves
don’t alternate in unhealthy patients
