Chapman Reflexes and Trigger Points Flashcards
Area between clavicle and second rib
dysfunction of head and neck
Ribs 3-12
anatomical progression through appendix
Middle ear chapman point
superior surface of proximal clavicle
Nasal sinuses chapman point
inferior surface of proximal clavicle
Pharynx chapman point
Lateral edge of mid manubrium where rib one articulates
Tonsils chapman point
lateral edge of the angle of manubrium meeting sternum
Larynx and sinuses chapman point
Superior edge of rib two
Larynx at the edge of the costocartilage
Sinuses just medial to midclavicular line
Tongue chapman point
articulation of rib 2 to sternum
Esophagus, bronchus, thyroid, myocardium chapman points
All are between the articulations of Rib 2 and 3
Upper lung chapman point
between articulations of ribs 3 and 4
Lower lung chapman point
Between articulations of ribs 4 and 5
Stomach (acidity on L), Liver (on R) chapman point
Mid clavicular line between ribs 5 and 6
Stomach (peristalsis on L) and Liver, gallbladder on R chapman point
midclavicular line between ribs 6 and 7
Spleen on L and Pancreas on R chapman point
between ribs 7-8 midclavicular line
Small intestine chapman point
midclavicular line, between 8-9, 9-10 and on tip of rib 11
appendix chapman point
tip of rib 12
Posterior: TP of rib 11
bladder chapman point
around umbilicus
Kidneys chapman point
b/l 1 inch superior and 1 inch lateral to umbilicus
Posterior: SP of L1
Adrenals chapman point
B/l 2 inches superior and 1 inch lateral to umbilicus
Posterior: SP of T11
Cecum chapman point
Proximal point of right IT band
Proximal Transverse colon chapman point
along right IT band towards knee
Distal transverse colon chapman point
Along Left IT band towards knee
Sigmoid chapman point
proximal point of left IT band
Trigger points
hypersensitive focus within taut band of skeletal muscle or muscle fascia
painful upon compression with characteristic referred pain, tenderness
spinal cord plays important role in establishing and maintaining trigger points
Tx: spray and stretch w/ vapocoolant spray injection with local anesthetic or dry needling ME MFR Ischemic compression
Trigger point vs tenderpoints
Trigger points refer pain when pressed
tenderpoints DO NOT refer pain when pressed
