MYOCARDIAL INFRACTION Flashcards
Carry oxygenated blood
Arteries
Carry deoxygenated blood to your heart from your body and lungs
Veins
The largest blood vessel in your body
Aorta
Two biggest veins in your body
Superior and Vena Cava
It happens when a blood clot or thrombus suddenly blocks a blood vessel. Most specifically, clots that block the coronary arteries cause most heart attacks
Myocardial Infarction
Another term for Myocardial Infarction
Heart Attack
The main cause of death in industrialized nations
Myocardial Infarction
It occurs when the coronary flow is suddenly reduced or stopped, and the cardiac muscle undergoes necrosis.
Myocardial Infarction
ASSESSMENT OF MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION
- History of illnesses
- Chest pain not relieved by rest or medications
- Presence of shortness of breath
- Nausea and vomiting
- Decreased urinary output
- Monitor vital signs, especially the blood pressure
and pulse rate - Perform a precise and complete physical assessment to detect complications and changes
in the patient’s status.
CLINICAL MANIFESTATION OF MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION
- Chest Pain (Cardinal Symptom)
- Shortness of breath
- Indigestion
- Tachycardia and Tachypnea
(Increased heart rate and
respiratory rate) - Catecholamines responses
- Fever
CARDIAC REHABILITATION POST MI PATIENTS
- ACUTE PHASE
- TRAINING PHASE
- MAINTENANCE PHASE
Early mobilization
ACUTE PHASE
Aerobic Training Guidelines and Classification of Activities for different Classes of clients/Patients
TRAINING PHASE
MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE PROGRAM IN MI PATIENTS
MAINTENANCE PHASE
Where is the most frequent location for myocardial infarction to occur?
Left ventricle
