A
Bacteria causing non-gonococcal urethritis

How does mycoplasma genitalium present?
A
Similar to chlamydia, patients can be infected with both organisms
Mainly asymptomatic but can have:
- Urethritis
- Epididymitis
- Cervicitis
- Endometriosis

What investigations are used for mycoplasma genitalium?
A
NAAT
- First urine sample int he morning for men
- Vaginal swabs
Check every positive sample for macrolide resistance

How is mycoplasma genitalium treated?
A
Doxycycline
Azithromycin (unless resistant to macrolides)
Moxifloxacin in complicated infections
Azithromycin in pregnant or breastfeeding women
