Q

M. tuberculosis virulence factors (5):

A
  • Can grow inside macrophages and monocytes.
  • LLO homologue allows escape from phagocytic vesicle.
  • Prevents acidification of the phagosome.
  • Mycolic acids produced are toxic.
  • TNF-alpha provoked by cell wall components causes lung damage.
