What bit do you use on your horse and why
(Sherry Cervi) Long shank gag bit with a chain mouthpiece. The chain mouthpiece gives him more bend and the long shank gives him more brakes. I use this bit because my horse needed more bend around the barrels, and I was having a hard time stopping him at the end of the run.

Port bit vs snaffle bit
A port bit is a solid bit and has an inverted curve or U shape at the center of the mouthpiece. It gives a place for horses to put their tongue.
A snaffle bit is a broken bit and can be straight or have 2 to 3 jointed pieces connected to rings. It applies direct pressure to the mouth.
