Q

Why is the Faure’s requiem important?

A

-unlike traditional requiem’s that emphasise themes of purgatory and judgement through a “Dies ire” this requiem conveys a message of comfort through its slower tempo and soprano voices (creating almost an angelic sound) assuring believers of the peaceful awaiting of departed souls
-an organ plays in the background giving a sense of movement from this life to the next just as Jesus passes ressurected into haven affirming Catholics beliefs inthe victory of life after death through Christ’s resurrection “he is risen”
