17
Q

What muscle does flexion at the elbow and what is a example

A

Biceps-upward faze of bicep curl

18
Q

What muscle does extension at the elbow and what is a example

A

Triceps- downwards faze of a bicep curl

19
Q

What muscle does flexion at the knee and what is a example

A

Hamstrings-downwards faze of a squat

20
Q

What muscle does extension at the knee and what is an example

A

Quadriceps-upwards faze of a squat

21
Q

What muscle does plantarflexion in the ankle and what is an example

A

Gastrocnemius-standing on your tiptoes to mark a netball shot

22
Q

What muscle does dorsiflexion and what is an example

A

Tibia anterior- going downwards in s squat

23
Q

What muscle does flexion in the shoulder and what is an example

A

Deltoid (anterior)-doing a handstand in gymnastics

24
Q

What muscle does extension in the shoulder and what is an example

A

Posterior Deltoid-pushing ski poles into the ground when skiing

25
What muscle does horizontal flexion in the shoulder and what is a example
Pectorals-follow through from a tennis forehand
26
What muscle does horizontal extension in the shoulder and what is a example
Trapezius-backswing for a forehand in tennis
27
What muscle does abduction in the shoulder and what is a example
Lateral deltoid- outward faze of a star jump
28
What muscle does adduction in the shoulder and what is a example
Latissimus dorsi- inward faze of a star jump
29
What muscle does flexion in the hip and what is an example
Hip flexors- downwards faze of a squat
30
What muscle does extension in the hip and what is an example
Gluteals- upwards faze of a squat
31
What muscle does abduction in the hip and what is an example
Gluteals-outward faze of a star jump
32
What muscle does adduction in the hip and what is a example
Hip adductors-inward faze of a star jump
33
What is an antagonistic pair
A pair of muscles which work together to produce movement. As one muscle shortens (contracts) the other one lengthens (relaxes)
34
What are two antagonistic pairs
Biceps and triceps, hamstrings and quadriceps
35
What are the phase of a bicep curl
Upwards phase: biceps contract, triceps lengthen causing flexion Downwards faze: triceps contract, biceps lengthen causing extension
36
What are the phases of a squat
Downwards phase: hamstrings contract, quadriceps lengthen causing flexion Upwards phase: quadriceps contract, hamstrings lengthen causing extension
37
What is a fixator muscle
A muscle which assists antagonistic pairs by stabilising the origin of the prime mover. Eg the trapezius contracts to stabilise the origin of the biceps
38
What is a synergist muscle
A muscle which actively helps the agonist to produce its desired movement preventing any undesired movements.
