-Found at front of upper arm
-Contracts during elbow flexion (involved in throwing)
-(eg) Javelin
Triceps
-Found at back of upper arm
-Works in harmony with bicep
-Contracts during elbow extension (throwing action)
-(eg) Netball shot
Abdominals
-Holds stomach in
-Causes flexion + rotates at trunk and hip
-Helps good posture
-(eg) Line-out in Rugby
Gluteals
-Form the buttocks
-Attached to femur
-Pulls leg backwards (extension at hip)
-(eg) Squats
Quadriceps
-Found at front of upper leg
-Group of 4 muscles
-Extension at the knee
-(eg) Kicking action; Football
Hamstrings
-Found on back of leg
-Stretch from pelvis to tibia
-Flexion in the knee
-(eg)Sprinting
Gastrocnemius
-Part of calf muscle
-Comes together to form Achilles tendon
-Used to point toes (plantar flexion)
-(eg) High jump approach
Antagonistic Pair
-One muscle contracts (shortens) whilst the other relaxes
-Contracting muscle is the Agonist
-Relaxing muscle is the Antagonist
-Muscles pull on tendons by contracting
