A

-A joint (Fulcrum)
-A weight/resistance placed on the joint (Load)
-Muscle that creates force + movement (Effort)

1st Class Lever (EFL)

A

-Fulcrum between effort and load
-Can provide mechanical advantage, depends on if fulcrum is closer to load or effort
-Example: Header in Football

2nd Class Lever (ELF)

A

-Load between effort and fulcrum
-Always provides mechanical advantage (effort arm longer than weight arm)
-Example: Take-off in a Lay-up

A

-Effort is between fulcrum and load
-Never provides mechanical advantage
Example: Bicep Curl
