Innervation: intercostal nerve
Action: external: elevates the ribs in forced respiration
Internal inter costal and innermost intercostal: during forced respiration interosseous part depresses ribs; interchondral part elevates the ribs.

A

Transverse processes of lumbar vertebrae, and sides of the vertebral bodies and IV discs of T12-S1to the strong tendon to the lesser trochanter of the femur.
Innervations: anterior rami of L2-L4
Action: flexes hip and trunk, and laterally flexes the vertebral column.
