Closes jaw; elevates mandible at jaw.
Sternocleido-mastoid
Superior Attachment: Mastoid process of the temporal bone
Inferior Attachment: Manubrium of the sternum; sternal end of the clavicle
Laterally flexes and rotates head; Flexes cervical portion of vertebral column

Superior Attachment: Mastoid process of the temporal bone; occipital bone

Rotate head to same side of contracting muscle; extend head and neck
