- frontalis muscle is in the forehead, it raises and lowers the eyebrows
- temporalis muscle moves lower jaw up and back to close the mouth
- masseter muscle, moves lower jaw up to close the mouth when chewing

A
Sternocleidomastoid muscle helps bend the neck and rotate the head; names for two points of origin - the sternum (stern/o) and clavicle (cleid/o) and the point of insertion, the mastoid process

- rectus abdominis, fibers are in straight alignment with vertical plane of the body. “six pack muscle” lies beside midline
- external oblique and internal oblique have slanted alignments (opposite directions from the other)
- transverse abdominis has crosswise alignment
