Q

blood vessels

A
  • function is transportation of blood throughout the body
  • there are arteries, arterioles, veins, venules, and capillaries
  • arteries carry blood away from the heart
  • veins carry blood to the heart
  • capillaries connect arteries to veins and this is where gasses, nutrients and waster products are exchanged with the cells in the body
  • arteries get smaller going away from the heart; veins get larger heading to the heart
