Muscle flexibility Flashcards
1
Q
Myostatic contracture
A
muscle tightness that impacts flexibility
2
Q
Arthrogenic contracture
A
Post short-term immobilisation, intra-articular or peri-articular structures affected and causes deficit (post surgical adhesions across joint, osteoarthritic changes)
3
Q
Fibrotic contracture
A
After long periods of immobilization, permanent loss of extensibility, surgery required, can have some increase in ROM but not full
4
Q
Pseudomyostatic contracture
A
Impaired mobility and limited ROM due to hypertonicity, injury to CNS, pain, protective muscle guarding (post stroke, spinal cord injury etc.)
