What does ICF stand for?
International classification of functioning, disability and health
Why do we use the ICF
The care is patient centred, we are focused not only on what is wrong with the patient but a holistic approach – what is important to them not just about their condition.
Describe the ICF factors
Body functions and structure:
Any loss or abnormality in psychological, physiological or anatomical structure/function
Activity:
The skills and abilities that the person can do (currently) – and knowing what they can do when not impaired. These may be limited in nature, duration and quality
Participation:
Involvement in life situations, this may be restricted in nature, duration and quality.
Environmental:
Where they live, what the physical space looks like
Personal:
Personal home life, career, hobbies etc.
