An aligning mark on a print that is used when a drawing is too large to be contained on one sheet.
double-acting door
A door that swings in two directions.
quirk mitre
A type of joint used at the outside corners of adjoining members in which the acute miter corners of adjoining members are trimmed flat at the ends to provide relief for the joint and prevent the ends from splitting.
tray ceiling
A horizontal ceiling with angled sides around the perimeter so as to resemble an inverted tray.
parapet
A low protective wall at the edge of a balcony or roof.
fireblock
A wood member nailed between studs, joists, or trusses to eliminate air movement in enclosed areas and reduce the spread of fire within wall cavities.
chase

underslung truss
A roof or floor truss that is supported by the top chord of the truss.
cant strip
A triangular member, commonly wood, installed under the finish roofing material at the intersection of a parapet and roof.

A trim member installed at the termination of an arch.
foil, scrim, and kraft (FSK) insulation
A type of batt insulation that receives three facings to incorporate fireproofing characteristics, a reinforcing fabric, and a kraft paper face.
