Multi Store Model Flashcards
1
Q
MSM refers to the process by which information is…
A
encoded, stored and retrieved.
2
Q
things that the MSM model argues?
A
- Memory consists of a number of separate locations in which information is stored. Sensory memory, STM & LTM
- Memory processes are sequential in the above order
- The various memory stores are seen as components that act in conjunction with the LTM through processes such as attention, coding and rehearal.

Q
How does MSM relate to HM?
A
HM had anterograde amnesia meaning that he could not transfer new information to long-term memory. His inability to create long term memories was linked to the experimental surgery performed on him which removed parts of his hippocampus, a part of the brain that is essential in the encoding of long term memory. This ultimately provides evidence for the model since he couldn’t store long-term memories however his short term memory worked just fine.
