Droughts

A

2011-2017 drought period was the longest in California history with the period between 2011-2014 representing the driest in its history.
2007-2009 drought was the first drought to trigger a state-wide proclamation of emergency - caused deadly wildfires.
La nina - episodes of cooler than average sea surface temperature in the equatorial Pacific

Wildfires

A

Camp fire 2018.
2007-2009 drought period resulted in the 2007 and 2009 wildfire seasons being particularly harmful, each burning 1.5 million acres.

Landslides

A

Often occur after sustained long periods of rainfall.
La Conchita landslide 2005 occurred after a 15 day period of near record rainfall.
The landslide was triggered by the rainfall and was somewhat a continuation of the 1995 landslide.
Destroyed 13 homes.
Killed 10 people.
