Short term responses
Nearly 70 humanitarian agencies have distributed emergency shelter materials to 1.5 million people.

21 emergency response units were mobilised.
US sent 10,000 troops to Haiti, with a hospital ship and helicopters - the troops helped with search and rescue.
Relief arrived from countries around the world including China, Russia and fellow Latin American nations.
Long term responses
The UN launched an appeal for $562 million with funds intended to help three million people in the 6 months after the quake hit.
Haiti government took limited action to get Haitians out of tented camps. Less than 30,000 of those displaced found permanent homes.
One year after the quake hit, 87% of the survivors are still living in tented camps.
The quake created 20 million cubic metres of rubble with the Haiti government only clearing 5% of it in the year after the disaster.
