what are the nerve root origins in the brachial plexus?
anterior rami of C5-T1
what do the trunks consist of?
upper - C5, C6
middle - C7
lower - C8, T1
where does the divisions portion of the brachial plexus occur?
inferior to the clavicle
what other two branches arise from the posterior cord?
superior and inferior subscapular nerve
what does the inferior subscapular nerve innervate?
inferior part of subscapularis muscle
teres major
what does the superior subscapular nerve innervate?
superior part of subscapularis muscle
what are the cords names in relation to?
the axillary artery
what does the musculocutaneous nerve innervate?
anterior compartment of arm
what is the name of the branch from the musculocutaneous nerve and what does it innervate?
lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm
lateral skin of arm
what does the axillary nerve innervate?
teres minor and deltoid
what is the name of the branch from the axillary nerve and what does it innervate?
superior lateral cutaneous nerve
skin over the inferior region of the deltoid (regimental badge area)
what does the median nerve innervate?
anterior forearm
thenar muscles
two lateral lumbrical muscles
what does the median nerve NOT innervate in the anterior forearm? what innervates these?
flexor carpi ulnaris
flexor digitorum profundus
ulnar nerve
what are the two branches of the median nerve and what do they innervate?
palmar cutaneous - lateral part of palm
digital cutaneous - lateral 3 and 1/2 fingers (palmar surface)
what does the radial nerve innervate?
posterior compartment of arm and forearm
skin of dorsal aspect of lateral 3 and 1/2 fingers
skin of lower arm, posterior arm and forearm
