compresses oesophagus but opens airway (prevents regurg/aspiration)
what are vocal cords?
free borders of mucosa covered connective tissue in the larynx
what are false vocal cords?
arytenoid cartilage to epiglottis
what are true vocal cords?
vocal process of arytenoid cartilage to thyroid cartilage
what is the supply of the intrinsic muscles of the larynx?
CN10 (inferior laryngeal nerve)
what are tensors muscles? what do they do?
cricothyroid
increase pitch
what are relaxor muscles? what do they do?
Thyroarytenoid muscles
decrease pitch
what are adductors muscles? what do they do?
Lateral crico-arytenoid muscles
arytenoid muscles
make voice quiet
what are abductor muscles? what do they do?
Posterior Crico-arytenoid muscles
abducts vocal cords
what is the supply of the mucosa above the vocal folds?
internal laryngeal nerves
