What should be assessed in appearance/behaviour?
Describe how they look Psychomotor activity Tics Rapport Any other abnormal behaviours
What should be assessed in speech?
Rate Rhythm Flow Content Tone
When asking about suicide what questions should be covered?
Acute phase - did they drink alcohol, did they do anything to avoid discovery, what did they think was going to happen
Pre suicidal - Why then, How long had they been thinking about it, notes, will
Post suicidal - How do they feel about what happened, intentions, plans to try again
What is assessed in affect/mood?
Subjection - how they feel on a scale
Objective - how you think they look. (Uthimic - nothing wrong with mood)
How do they react to what you say
Symptoms of anxiety
What is assessed in thought?
Form - delusions, overvalued ideas, is it formed normally

Suicidal ideation
What is assessed in perception?
Hallucinations Pseudohallucinations Illusions Self vs outside space 3rd person auditory - first rank symptom of schizophrenia
What is assessed in cognition?
General observations
AMT or MMSE
Specific lobe exams - if applicable
What is assessed in insight?
Do they appreciate;
Presence of illness
Need for treatment
Usefulness of treatment - do they know why taking it
