MRP och DRP Flashcards
1
Q
What is MRP?
A
Material requirement planning.
- Used to plan the production of assembled parts. Dependent demand technique: the demand is tied to production of other items
- Manage inventory levels of these parts by calculating when and how much of each material, component etc. is needed
How it works:
- The system works backwards to calculate these values starting from the demand of the finished product and uses that to determine the assembly parts needed to produce it. The parts of an assembly product can be listed in a BOM (bill of materials) to get a more detailed view of what components are needed
2
Q
How is MRP work conducted?
A
- Netting: calculation of demand/needs
- Lot sizing: determine the volume of lot
- Offsetting: calculation of order emission time
- BOM-explosion: break down the product into smaller parts and component to identify
3
Q
What is BOM?
A
Bill of materials. A list of components and material that’s included in a bigger assembly product
4
Q
What is DRP?
A
Distribution Resource Planning (DRP)
- Common system for planning the distribution activities of finished products throughout the supply chain (From production site all the way to retailers)
- Ensures that the right quantities are shipped at the right moment to meet the demand.
5
Q
What is the planning logic for DRP called?
A
Rolling. Planning of the same time interval several times within the planning time horizon.
6
Q
What are the assumptions of DRP?
A
- The product being analyzed if finished
- The quantities requested downstream are always available
- No minimum order constraints
- No backlogs are allowed
7
Q
What requirements are studied for DRP?
A
- Gross requirements: the market demand for a product
- Net requirements: the difference between gross requirement and available stock
- Replenishment plan: strategy to fulfill net requirements
8
Q
What is an open order?
A
Orders in the past
