Propranolol

Early signs of PD
- Depression
- Constipation
- Micrographia
- resting “pill rolling” tremor**
What is the test for confirming PD?
Acute dopaminergic challenge test–> clinical improvement after one hour (+)
What is the most common cause of secondary parkinsonism?
Neuroleptics: dopamine blocking drugs
Does secondary parkinsonism respond well to levodopa?
NO
UK Brain Bank Criteria
- Resting tremor
- Asymmetrical
- good response to levadopa
What repeat is associated with HD and which chromosome is is located on?
CAG repeat >40 on the end of the HD gene

What are the 3 defining symptoms of HD?
- Behavioral (ie irritable, aggressive)
- Chorea*
- Dementia (ie memory)
Important physical exam findings for HD?
- restless
- quick involuntary hand movements
- Brisk deep tendon reflexes**
What is 1st line treatment for restless leg syndrome?
Dopamine Agonists: Pramipexole or Ropinorole
Name 5 diagnostic criteria for restless leg syndrome
- Urge to move legs due to uncomfortable sensations
- Begin while at rest
- Relief with movement
- Worse at night
- Not caused by something else
What blood test is important to get with restless leg syndrome?
Ferretin (can be the cause of RLS if <75)
