What did Scientific management believe?
Money was the man aim of workers
He invented piece work (paid per piece)
Emphasised extreme division of labour, piecework pay and tight management control
What did Elton Mayo’s theory think?
Emphasis on communication between managers and work.
Greater manager involvement (people want attention)
Working in groups or teams
What did Maslow’s Hierarchy of Human needs believe?
Human needs were like a triangle. Workers remain unhappy because they have the bottom of the pyramid filled.
What was the order of Maslows pyramid from top to bottom?
Self Actualisation Esteem Social Safety Physiological/ basic
What did Herzberg’s two factor theory believe?
Believed there were two types of motivation They were called Motivators and Hygiene or maintenance factors
Motivators= concern job pay etc..
Hygiene factors= Does not concern the job but surround it
