Dr. Ross said he is helping people by making them feel pressured and that they want his approval. These are clear extrinsic motivation→ feeling forced and compelled.
What might introjected motivation look like in the case of smoking patients?
I want to quit smoking because I feel bad for my family that I am a soker.
Who is Dr. Geoff Williams and what was his main insight?
He was a doctor who got a PHD in motivational psychology to figure out how to better motivate his patients. He studied autonomous motivation and autonomy support and highlighted some basic listening skills

What were Dr. William’s main findings?
Three studies: Quitting Cessation, Medication Adherence, Diabetes Control.
1) found that autonomy suport fosters autonomous motivation which lead to significant abstience.
2) Percieved autonomy support lead to autonomous motivation and higher levels of adherance
3) Perception of autonomy support led to autonomous reasons, to better glucose control
