What are the Content Theories of Motivation?
They focus on what motivated individuals. An employee is motivated if their needs are satisfied
What is Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory?
That intrinsic factors are related to job satisfaction and motivation, whereas extrinsic factors are associated with job dissatisfaction
What are some examples of hygiene factors?
Supervision, working conditions, salary, status and security
What are some examples of motivators?
Achievement, recognition, work itself, responsibility and advancement
What is McClelland’s Three-Needs Theory?
That acquired needs are major motives in work. Need for achievement, need for power and need for affiliation (desire for interpersonal relationships)
What does Process Theories of Motivation say and what are the two?
They focus on why people choose to behave in a certain way. Equity and Expectancy Theory
What is equity theory?
States that employees compare his/her jobs inputs/outcomes to that of a referents and corrects any inequity.
What is Expectancy Theory?
Individuals act in a certain way based on the expectation that the act will be followed by a given outcomes
