Q

what is the difference between heat and temperature

A

Heat and temperature are related but distinct concepts in physics. Temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles in a substance. It is a scalar quantity, meaning it has only magnitude and no direction.

Heat, meanwhile, is the transfer of energy as a result of the difference in temperature. When two objects at different temperatures come into contact, heat energy will transfer from the hotter object to the colder object until they reach the same temperature. It is a form of energy and measured in joules.

In simple terms, temperature is a measure of how hot or cold something is, whereas heat is the energy that is transferred to or from an object to change its temperature.
