Charles, law Flashcards
what is Boyles law again
when the pressure of an enclosed gas increases, the volume will decrease. We described that relationship as an inversely proportional relationship
what does Charles law look into
at the relationship between the volume and the absolute temperature
what does an ideal gas describe
a gas that follows these rules
- The particles are identical in every way.
- Their molecules occupy no volume.
- They have no intermolecular forces between the molecules.
- The collisions between the particles and the walls of the container are perfectly elastic (which means that they don’t lose energy).
what is volume and how is it deceptive
Volume– How much space an object or substance takes up.
A substance’s or object’s volume is the amount of 3D space it takes up. Volume is a derived unit that is based on three dimensions: length, breadth and height. As a result, despite the fact that the beakers have the same volume, their lengths, widths and heights make that volume appear deceptively different. You will need to calculate that volume. Mostly, the space is measured in m3but it could also be mm3, cm3, dm3or l. Volumes can be deceptive
what is Charles law
The volume of an enclosed gas is directly proportional to its kelvintemperature, provided the pressure is kept constant.
temperature increases = volume increases
temperature decreases = volume decreases
what is the formula for the relationship between temperature and pressure
