general info adrenal medulla
secretes chatecholamines; located on top of kidney; neuroendocrine gland; associated with sympathetic system–modified sympathetic ganglion, with chromaffin cells–modified post gang neurons
ventral presyn ganglion synapses with adrenal medulla, causes adrenal medulla to release epinephrine into blood which will bind to target adrenergic receptors
ya
what types of receptors are SYMP adrenergic?
GPCR/metabotropic
what types of receptors are PARASYMP adrenergic?
GPCR/meta.
what pathways can the GPCR stimulate?
phospholipase C signal transduction pathway–causes increase in intracellular Ca which mediates a cell response; also PKC can mediate cell response;
adenylyl cyclase signal transduction pathway–PKA causes phosphorylaton of other proteins to cause cell response
what do growth cones depend on?
growth factors, molecules in the ECM, and membrane proteins
