What is revolution?
In relation to the moon, the moon travels around the earth on an orbit about every 28 days.
What is rotation?
The earth is spinning on its axis. This causes day and night. One rotation is 24 hours.
Whist does waxing mean?
The light is increasing on the right.
What is waning?
Light decreasing on right.
Orbit
The path that the moon travels around the earth.
Crescent
Phases of the moon when there is less light than the first and last quarter moon.
Gibbous
More light than first and last quarter moon.
Full moon
Entire lit side is facing earth.
New moon
Dark side facing earth.
First quarter moon
Right side lit up. One quarter done through orbit around earth.
Third quarter moon
Left side lit up. Three quarter done with orbit.
How long is rotation?
28 days, or 4 weeks
Which way does moon revolve?
Counterclockwise.
