For depression could be any 3 of these symptoms: low mood, loss of enjoyment, loss of interest and motivation for everyday activities, poor/ too much sleep, no/too much appetite, loss of concentration low energy, feelings of emptiness/worthlessness, self-doubt/blame, suicidal thoughts
For mania could be any 3 of these symptoms: Constant elation or euphoria, irritable mood, getting into arguments easily, observable hyperactivity, increased energy, inappropriate optimism, overestimating personal ability, poor judgement/grandiose plans, speeding up of thought and speech, flight of ideas, need for little sleep
The wording does not have to be the exact same.
