Why do we Monitor?
A
- A way of keeping track of your progress
- Allows you to see where necessary adjustments need to be made
- You can asses if training is too difficult or too easy.
- You can see if targets are being met
- Provides you with permanent records which can be compared to in the future.

Explain A Training Diary?
Physical
A
- Collects qualitative information on how you feel training is progressing.
- After each session you note down your thoughts, feelings and any scores from training.
- Helps you recognise if training is too easy or too difficult.
- Will motivate a performer if they can see themselves reaching and achieving goals.

Explain Re-testing and Re-collecting Data?
Physical
A
- This is were you re-test your development need again
- you will then compare to your initial tests to look for improvement
- By doing so you will see if training is having the desired affect.
- If it is having the desired affect then make training more difficult
- Repeat the same tests throughout a training programme to compare and check for improvement.

Explain Teacher/Coach Feedback?
Physical
A
- Gives you an expert opinion on how they think you are progressing in a game or training.
- They can tell you if training is having the desired affect or not.
- They will tell you where to make alterations to training in order for you to improve

Explain a Diary?
Mental, Emotional and Social
A
- This is similar to a training diary although it does not collect information on the physical factors.
- It collects qualitative information on how you feel training is progressing.
- You will note down thoughts, feelings and any scores from training.
- The diary will record how you felt your decision making, confidence or motivation was during training (Mental)
- The diary will record how you felt your emotions were either happy, sad, angry or fearful etc and show the reasons why(Emotional)
- Finally it will record information on how a team is working together if they are communicating well, if team dynamics are good or how socially cohesive a group is.

Explain Re-testing Questionnaires?
Mental, Emotional and Social

- Used to compare with previous attempts to see if anything has changed.
- Can be inaccurate as how you are feeling at that exact moment may affect results
- May be used before and after a match to see how things are impacting on your performance during by analysing differences.
- Can be used when playing a different level of opponent to see if fear affects your performance.
