Step one of CompTIA’s Troubleshooting model is IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. In order name the six sub steps.
- Gather information.
- Duplicate the problem, if possible.
- Question users.
- Identify Symptoms.
- Determine if anything has changed.
- Approach multiple problems individually.
Step Three of CompTIA’s Troubleshooting Model is to ESTABLISH A THEORY OF PROBABLE CAUSE. What are the three sub steps?
- Question the obvious.
- Consider multiple approaches.
- Divide and conquer.
Step Four of CompTIA’s Troubleshooting Model is TEST THE THEORY TO DETERMINE CAUSE. What are the two sub steps?
- Once the theory is confirmed (confirmed root cause), determine the next steps to resolve the problem.
- If the theory is not confirmed, establish a new theory or escalate.
