Module 9 Flashcards
How are momentum and velocity related?
They always point in the same direction.
What is the Law of Momentum Conservation?
When the sum of the forces working on a system is zero, the total momentum in the system cannot change.
What is impulse?
The change in momentum experienced by an object, given by F x change in time.
What is impulsive force?
A force applied over a short time interval.
What is recoil velocity?
The velocity that an object develops in response to launching another object, which is a result of the Law of Momentum Conservation.
What is angular momentum?
The momentum associated with rotational motion.
What is angular velocity?
The rate at which the position angle of an object changes in rotational motion.
What is the Law of Angular Momentum Conservation?
If the sum of the torques in a system is equal to zero, the angular momentum never changes.
