A Canadian leader of early community nursing. In the early 1900s trained at Johns Hopkins. Was the first Director of Public Health Nursing in the Toronto Department of Health. Decentralized public health nursing practice. Moved it from specialist to generalist as saw family, home and community were all essential pieces of practice. Hired foreign language speaking nurses.

Who was Kate Brighty Colley?
An early leader in community nursing. Established many long term care facilities in Alberta and used radio broadcasts to reach community residents.

An early leader in community nursing. Instrumental in establishing the first integrated nursing degree in Canada– included public health nursing education (1920)

1987, they developed the initial Standards of Practice in 2003

a combination of individual and social actions designed to gain political and community support of the conditions which promote health
