Module 7: Family Assessment Tool Flashcards
Collect data base of the family through the use
of the following research tools
a. Observation
b. Interview
c. Focus group discussion
d. Physical examination
e. Survey and other methods
Common Method of Data Gathering
● Observation
● Questionnaire
● Interview
The process of establishing a trusting and
productive relationship with the family. it is
always advised that the nurse must establish
good rapport with the family members, as the
family is the client in family health care.
Relating
are common social behaviors that set the tone
for the interviews and begin the development
of a therapeutic relationship. Wright and
Leahey (2005) believe that erosion of these
social skills prevents the family nurse from
collecting essential data.
Manners
The third key element in the interview is the
_______ __________ This type of
conversation is focused and planned and
engages the family.
Therapeutic conversation may initiate further
discussion that brings the family together on
issues (Wright and Leahey, 2005).
Therapeutic Questions
● Tools are developed to allow a more
systematic and organized classification
and analysis of data
Family Assessment Tools
Waste water flows
through a system of pipes (could be
improvised from bamboo) to an open pit
or canal.
● Blind drai
Open Drainage
Waste water flows
through a system of closed pipes to an
underground pit or covered canal.
Blind drainage
- Garbage is used as hog
feed
Hog Feeding -
- Refuse and/or
garbage piled in a dumping place (With
or Without pit) with no soil covering
Open Dumping
Refuse/garbage
collected by garbage truck or any type
of garbage collection in the community.
Garbage Collection
- Refuse/garbage is placed in
a pit and covered when filled up. There
is no intention to dig it up later for use
as fertilizer.
● Burial Pit
Involves burying or
stacking of alternating layers of
organic-based refuse/garbage and
“treated soil” arranged so as to hasten
rapid decay and decomposition into
compost. This organic mixture can later
be used as fertilizer
Composting
Regularly piles
refuse/garbage and later burned in the
open air
Open Burning
A pail or box is used to
receive the excreta and disposed later
when filled. This includes the “ballot”
system wherein excreta are wrapped in
a piece of paper or plastic and thrown
later.
