Module 6- Exploiting turn Flashcards
What’s the difference between snap check/call on the turn and tank check/call on the turn in terms of folding the river?
Tank X/C folded the river a lot more (65% vs 48%)
What’s the difference between snap check/call on the turn and tank check/call on the turn in terms of range composition for the following categories:
- Weak hands
- Draws
- Middle pair, TPWK, low pair
- GPTK
- Tank call contains a lot more weak hands (47% weak hands sv 36%)
- Tank calls has 16% vs 12% in draws
- Similar (about 38%)
- Tank has 6% TPGK vs 8% in snap call range
What’s the max exploit strategy vs tank-call on the river?
What’s the recommended approach in practical, if the pool is small.
same as the flop, bet bluffs (they overfold), check value (they overbluff).
Tone down and change mix strategies
Why do we not have a “exploit checks” for the flop module?
Because data didn’t show a significat difference.
What’s the difference between a turn snap-check and tank-check on the turn for the oop player? In what stat is there a difference and what does that mean?
tank-check range is SLIGHTLY weaker, with a few percent more trash.
But - snap check bluffs less on the river and tank-check bluffs more on the river, so i can slow play less vs snap-check.
What’s the difference between a turn snap-check and tank-check on the turn for the IP player in terms of range composition?
Tank-check has more trash (16% vs 10%) and less middle pair/low pair (12/16 and 16/24), but the tank-check does have more two pair plus (4% vs 2%). Snap check folds a lot less to a river bet (38% snap check vs 46% tank check on the turn for the IP player)
On the river vs turn action:
What is the max exploit when OOP tank checks?
What is the max exploit when IP tank checks?
When OOP tank-checks it’s meaningless.
When IP tank-checks he has a weaker range (and more polorised) so max exploit is slow play value (let him bluff) and fast play my bluffs on the river (he mostly have weaker hands)
On the river vs turn action:
What is the max exploit when OOP snap checks?
What is the max exploit when IP snap checks?
When OOP snap-checks it’s meaningless
when IP snap-checks he has a stronger, more condensed range that is underfolding. So fast-play value, and bluff less.
What’s the difference betwen IP snap bet and tank bet in terms of triple barrel?
Snap bets river a lot more (61% vs 55%)
What’s the difference betwen IP snap bet and tank bet in terms of range composition?
Snap-bet has way less weak hands (37% vs 50%), more draws (21% vs 16%), more overpairs, same amount of TPGK, more sets and more two pair plus.
What should I do vs tank-bet on the turn.
Play GTO! This range’s composition is actually, despite being weaker than snap-bet, close to GTO
What should I do vs snap-bet on the turn.
Overfold! This range is strong as fk
What’s the difference on the river between snap-check and tank-check (for the oop player, we cant exploit IP because there’s no ocean…)
Saulo tries to claim the tank-check range is weaker, but I didn’t see a big difference - my observation holds, as they folded for the same % both in big and small pots tank and check.
By the way - both overfold, so in general I can overbluff vs regs on the river.
If anything, the tank-check range tilts a bit towards having more nuts and more air (more polorised) and snap-check tilts a bit more towards bluffcatchers
How do I improve with my timing-tells reads?
Assess what part of villian’s range will be a difficult decision (so he would tank) and which part would be an easy decision (so he would snap).
Do it on a regular basis so I can improve. Remember that this is a probabilistic framework, so yeah I will sometimes 5-bet jam into AA, but that is fine. It doesn’t have to work 100% of the time to show tons of profit.
