Clinicians’ Perspective
Perceive therapy as effective based on track record. Therapy ends when client appears recovered (high point)
Gives illusion of high success rate (but may relapse and not return to that or any clinician).

Controlled research with control groups
Typhoid treated by bloodletting over 5 week period (then showed that 5 weeks of rest as effective)
Meta-Analysis:
a procedure for statistically combining the results of many different research studies.
