What is Qualitative movement analysis?
QMA - to be objective, attend to concerns, set criteria, and focus assessment on relevant content.
a systematic observation and an introspective judgement or human movement, in order to provide appropriate intervention to improve performance.
what are the three main points of QMA?
- observation - collecting data about human movement performances
- Judgement - critically evaluating the movements
- Intervention - giving feedback, corrections and changing things for improvement
What is a quantitative analysis?
when movement is collected and expressed in numerical forms, stats, metrics, angles
what is a qualitative analysis?
offering judgement based on the quality of a movement, subjective
things like coordination, creativity, timing.
what is the Systematic observational strategy?
qualitative movement diagnosis and analysis

Why is Qualitative Movement Diagnosis Interdiciplinary?
it brings together al relevant parts of Kin and PE.
mixes biomechanics, motor development, motor learning and pedagogy all together.

- scanning from general to specific
How can visual cues help?
can be used to indicate boundaries, destination, or direction of movement.
How do verbal cues help?
by being specific and concise, and using relatable cues not idioms.
How do physical cues help?
progression:
1. complete manipulation
2. manipulative prompting
3. minimal guidance
must have consent or assent (younger population who can’t give consent)
