Module 2 Flashcards
What is movement sense perspective?
when motor sensitivity, motor knowledge, and motor competency are combined into a holistic and personal meaningful experience.
- feeling and awareness of your own movement
What is the metabolic process?
the idea that energy can’t be creased of lost, it is developed in our muscles and taken from forces around us.
How can we understand or movements?
moving is changing your position through time and space.
resulting from force
it is adaptable and modifiable
What is an impulse?
a force that is created or generated and applied over a period of time
What is a force? What are the two types of forces?
a push or a pull that produces motion
Internal force - produced by muscular contractions - depends on physical capabilities, muscles must be active.
External force - gravity, air, wind, water, friction
How can we create force?
- employ or alter mass
- employ or alter speed
- employ stability
- employ a firm striking surface
What is mass?
the quantity of matter in an object measured in kg
has a gravitational force
What is Inertia?
the resistance to change in motion.
the desire of an object to continue doing whatever it is doing.
Newton’s first law of motion
a body at rest will remain at rest and a body in motion will remain in motion at the same velocity and in the same direction, unless acted upon by an external force.
Newton’s 2nd law of motion
Law of acceleration
the acceleration of an object is proportional to the force and inversely related to its mass
how much muscle we use to the object and how fast we apply it.
Newton’s 3rd law of motion
for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
rate of Acceleration & Deceleration
Acceleration is indicated by an increase velocity
Deceleration is a decrease in velocity
What is momentum?
Can be generated by the combination of mass and velocity
used for projecting and receiving objects.
What is an Inertial lag?
When your body creates a ‘whipping’ motion by rotating trunk, shoulder, arm then wrist to generate much more force to throw the ball.
body segments must move in order.
What is Reciprocal enervation?
The process by which dual messages are sent to muscles.
getting muscles to move at the right time.
What is a preliminary movement?
Any movement before using the muscles to produce force. movement prior to the movement of a backswing. a dribble, run up to a soccer ball
How do you increase stability?
Increase the size of the BOS
centralize the LOG
lower the COG
Increase mass
extend the BOS in the direction of the oncoming force.
What is Radius of Gyration?
the distance from the axis of rotation and the objects COG.
