Module 4 Flashcards

1
Q

Force absorption

A
  1. allows us to maintain offensive control over an object for strategic purposes
  2. to gain control over an object at the time of reception
to prevent injury and safety purposes

Q

how does force absorption happens in the body?

A

by transferring the force to muscles where contractions in the opposite direction absorb the force.

Q

What is an Eccentric contraction?

A

muscles extending against the force.
Extending - bringing your forearms muscles further apart using your elbow joint.
recieving a force, giving, pushing
the same muscles that will project you upwards on a jump will absorb you when you come down.

Q

What is Equlibrium?

A

when your system is in balance, not tipping over.
you can be in an unstable equlibrium, used to show off

Q

How can we increase stability for absorption?

A
  1. increase the BOS in relation to the direction of the oncoming force.
  2. shift the COG and LOG within the BOS
  3. lower the COG

Q

what is CSA? (contacting surface area)

A

effectively dissipating the force on contact
Higher CSA, then a Lower Weight per unit area. less pressure

Lower CSA, then a higher Weight per unit area. more pressure
