Module 4 Flashcards
Force absorption
- allows us to maintain offensive control over an object for strategic purposes
- to gain control over an object at the time of reception
to prevent injury and safety purposes
how does force absorption happens in the body?
by transferring the force to muscles where contractions in the opposite direction absorb the force.
What is an Eccentric contraction?
muscles extending against the force.
Extending - bringing your forearms muscles further apart using your elbow joint.
recieving a force, giving, pushing
the same muscles that will project you upwards on a jump will absorb you when you come down.
what is a Concentric contraction?
shortening of the muscle, flexion, bringing your forearms closer together using the joint of the elbow
Isometric contraction
muscles are being held against the force
What is Equlibrium?
when your system is in balance, not tipping over.
you can be in an unstable equlibrium, used to show off
How can we increase stability for absorption?
- increase the BOS in relation to the direction of the oncoming force.
- shift the COG and LOG within the BOS
- lower the COG
what is CSA? (contacting surface area)
effectively dissipating the force on contact
Higher CSA, then a Lower Weight per unit area. less pressure
Lower CSA, then a higher Weight per unit area. more pressure
