The genital tracts of both males and females are the same up until how long?
7 weeks
Müllerian ducts form what?
Fallopian tubes, uterus, proximal vagina
Wolffian ducts
Male sex structures
The cranial and caudal ends of the Müllerian duct forms what?
Cranial- Fallopian tubes
Caudal- uterus and upper vagina
3 classifications of abnormal Müllerian duct development
- Arrested development
- Failure of fusion
- Incomplete resorption
If one or both Müllerian ducts do not develop
Arrested development:
- uterine aplasia
- unicornuate uterus
MRKH syndrome
Complete agenesis of uterus and vagina
The Müllerian ducts develop but fail to fuse together
Failure of fusion:
- uterus didelphys
- uterus bicornis bicollis
- uterus bicornis unicollis
- uterus arcuate
The Müllerian ducts fuse but the septum is not reabsorbed
Incomplete resorption:
-uterus septus
-uterus subseptus
Most common occurring of all mullerian abnormalities and poorest reproductive outcomes
Incomplete resorption
How can you differentiate an arcuate and a subseptate?
And indentation >1cm is subseptate/septate
