Human Caring Theory
— She continued her nursing education at the University of Colorado. Earned her doctorate in educational psychology and counseling in 1973.
— Joined the School of Nursing faculty at the University of Colorado
Health Sciences Center.
— Watson and her colleagues established the Center for Human Caring at the University of Colorado.
— The Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI) was established from groundwork laid by the Center for Human Caring. WCSI exists as a nonprofit organization devoted to advancing caring science.
— She has authored 11 books (Nursing: The Philosophy and Science of Caring), shared authorship of 9 books, and published countless articles in
nursing and interdisciplinary journals.

7 ASSUMPTIONS OF CARING AS A SCIENCE

  1. CARING CAN BE EFFECTIVELY DEMONSTRATED AND PRACTICED ONLY
    INTERPERSONALLY.
