A
- layer 1: first impressions (surface level): start by describing what you see, hear or read (docuemnt initial reactons)
- layer 2: language and symbols (text level): examine how meaning is created: eg what specicif words/phrses stand out, what visual symbols or images are used etc.
- layer 3: identity and representation (social level): analyze who is shown and why
