Processes, stores and transfers information.
What is computer hardware?
Devices and components that make up a computer system.
What is a laptop?
A computer that integrates display, system components, and input or output devices within a single, portable case.
Define Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM)
Manufacturers who produce equipment or components and are marketed by other companies. It can also mean companies who rebrand other manufacturer products and sell them.
Internet of Things (IoT)
Types of thing that are embedded with processing and networking functionality.
What role does a server plays?
Computers that provide services to other computers.
What are the attributes of a server?
Reliable, powerful, redundancy and fault tolerant
Home automation
House appliance or devices that are controlled over the Internet
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)
A rapidly developing sector that produces vehicles of sort that does not require a person to be inside to be controlled, ranges from full-size fixed wing aircraft to much smaller multi-rotor hover drones
Medical devices
A class of devices where it can be controlled remotely by using electronics

A computer that have powerful CPUs, graphic processors, Ethernet and WiFi.

What type of computer is most likely to need peripheral devices?
Desktop computer.
What type of computer is best suited for using a job where you have to make notes and be able to move around easily?
A tablet or smartphone or possibly a hybrid laptop/tablet.
Why don’t laptops make good servers?
There is no room for expansion and you are paying for components and design you do not need.
Why isn’t a smartphone a good tool for writing a report
Touchscreen or mini keyboards are not optimized for writing lots of text, though it is possible to attach them as peripheral devices
What type(s) of IoT appliance are less likely to be controlled via a home automation hub?
Modern cars and medical devices are unlikely to interface via a hub. Home automation hubs link to kitchen and domestic appliances, streaming media players, and potentially security systems.
How does a CPU interact with other computer components?
It retrieves instruction or data from the memory and processes it.
What is the hardware that makes up computer components such as CPU and RAM?
Transistors.
Define the four functions of a computer system (Hint: IOPS)
I) Input - receives user input
II) Output - sends processed data to users
III) Process - manipulates data based on instructions given
