what is a galaxy
a galaxy is a huge collection of gas, dust and stars all attracted to each other by gravity and are in constant moving
what is the use of hubble space telescope
Hubble takes sharp pictures of objects in the sky such as planets, stars and galaxies.
Describe the components of the milky way galaxy (type of star cluster, shape, our location within it, )
the sun is located about haldway out from the bulge. it is a globular cluster.
the shape is a spiral galaxy with spiral arms coming out the center
what is the milky way
the milky way galaxy is a spiral galaxy that has our solar system in it
stars rotate around the center bulge and the sun is located about halfway out from the bulge is a spiral galaxy
what does a spiral galaxy look like?
spiral galaxy has long “arms” spiralling out from the center
what does an elliptical galaxy look like?
can be a perfect sphere or a stretched out eleipse.
what does a irregular galaxy look like
does not take on any spefic shape
what is a star cluster?
a star cluster is a group of stars that are fairly close and travel together ( 10 - 1 million stars in size)
what is a open cluster?
an open clusters containd 50-1000 stars and are loosely clustered
what is a globular cluster
a globular cluster contains 100 000 - 1 000 000 stars and are clustered tightly together
what is dark matter?
dark matter is an unseen mass that does not emit or absorb light. it can affect objects mass.
what is dark energy
Dark energy is the name given to the mysterious force that’s causing the expansion of our universe
